Chair Car Driver

ADDITIONAL Responsibilities:
o Acts at all times in the best interests of high quality patient care, in the best interest of the patient, and in such a manner to reflect credibly on American Ambulance Service, Inc. and the professional reputation of the Chair Car Driver.
o Assures patient's safety in accordance with the rules, regulations, protocols, policies and procedures of American Ambulance Service, Inc., including the laws and regulations of the State and Federal Governments consistent with good judgment and the provision of high quality patient care.
o Responds to and from select requests for transportation using appropriate care and caution in accordance with State law, Company policy, and the principles of safe vehicle operation.
o Accompanies patients to their destination, continuing to provide appropriate care and patient advocacy. If appropriate, this should continue until the responsibility for the patient has been transferred to an appropriate person.
o Completes all appropriate documentation and record keeping for every assignment.
o Adheres to Universal Precautions when dealing with patient contacts. Is familiar with and practices the Infection Control policies and procedures of American Ambulance Service, Inc.
o Acts at all times with his/her personal safety in mind, as well as the safety of all other passengers, professional and/or medical staff, family members, the patient, and any other personnel present.
o Demonstrates and ensures knowledge, understanding and compliance of American Ambulance Service, Inc. policies and procedures.
o Ensures that the vehicle and equipment is ready for use at the beginning of the shift and after every call. This includes: appropriate cleaning and disinfecting of the interior and exterior of the vehicle; appropriate cleaning and disinfecting of equipment; inspecting; restocking, and completing daily checklists of the vehicle and equipment; and performing routine maintenance.
o Performs daily inspections of their base for cleanliness.
o Performs duties related to public relations and community education programs sponsored by American Ambulance Service, Inc. when required.
o Performs duties related to the continuing improvement and development of American Ambulance Service, Inc.
Qualifications:

o Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license.
o Must have a minimum of 2 (two) years licensed driving experience.
o Must have and maintain an excellent driving record.
o Must have a current American Heart Association CPR Certification.
o Must be at least 21 years of age.
o Must maintain a high degree of personal integrity and responsibility.
o Flexible shift availability as position may require weekends and holidays.
o Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgment and common sense.
o Ability to work efficiently and interact in a constructive and professional manner with other team members, professional staff, medical staff, and etc.
o Ability to interact effectively and professionally with patients, customers, clients, family members, bystanders, and the general public in such a manner as to reflect credibly on American Ambulance Service, Inc.
o Demonstrates a level of skill and ability consistent with the provision of high quality patient care.
o The ability to perform effectively in carrying out public relations functions and the ability to deal effectively with members of the medical community and general public in promoting American Ambulance Service, Inc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

o The ability to pass the requirements of the pre-employment agility test.
o Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of a patient in a wheelchair.
o The ability to lift and maneuver the wheelchair with a patient in a safe manner without difficulty.
o The ability to lift and stow the wheelchair in a safe manner without difficulty.
o The ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty.
o The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
o The ability to walk a distance of one quarter of a mile without difficulty and without affecting the immediate performance of job-related duties as outlined.
o Frequent reaching forward, stepping up and down, squatting or kneeling.

NON-PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
o Must be able to operate a company vehicle during all hours of the day and night in often-challenging traffic conditions and weather. Trips will include locations throughout Norwich and the surrounding communities, Connecticut, Rhode Island and, at times, even further distances.
o Must pass the pre-employment screening process including:
o Drug Screening
o Background Checks
o Motor Vehicle Report requirements per insurance requirements
o Pre-hire and Orientation Testing requirements

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
